Overall, the page design is good, it feels clean and is easy to read, but there are a lot of minor technicalities. The headline size do not indicate any sort of organization in how important it is. Double Effort’s article does not fill out both columns completely. In Huskies Dominate, the columns do not line up, and does not fill out the columns. There are also numerous orphans throughout the article. Cheerleader spacing is definitely not a pica. The space between the headline and the article is too large and the space between the article and the line is too small. The tab is also spaced weirdly. Five kills has similar issues. Odd spacing, article does not line up, and article does not fill out the columns. Water polo’s right column just needs to be moved up, the articles are not lined up. There shouldn’t be two pictures of the same subject on the left side; they are trapped and weigh the page down. The volleyball picture needs to be cropped to access the focal points… the volleyball players. On the left side of the page, the lines touch, on the right side, they do not, it should be consistent.

ASB finally gave us some financial information, we could have been more thorough. It was a great concept with some very important information but there was too much white space. The polls with the ads clutters the page, and the two articles sit randomly within the pages. None of the headlines are lined up, not even in a creative sense. The check was creative though and the idea was great, but the outline and the setup made it all too hard to read.

California’s dire and ongoing budget predicament is raising a tough — and touchy — question about the state’s finances, one that some at the Capitol do not want discussed: Is California bankrupt?

It is a question. Is one of the largest states in the US actually out of money? The article continues on with facts and observations.

I’ve learned to relax a little, and to trust my writers. They’ve grown leaps and bounds (aha a cliche) as news writers and are irreplaceable. My only regret is not treating them with more respect at the beginning of the year.

I also realized how much I’ve grown since last year. I’m much more confident in my writing and editing skills.

I’m not sure what’s going to come next semester, I hope my designs improve. We are going to have some strong articles, so I’m looking forward to that.

The infographic is clear, concise, and colorful. It draws you in and makes you want to read it, despite the rather boring subject.

The Hatchet could do something similar in terms of a student’s junk college, SAT, ACT, scholarship, graduation, and various other letters.

Merfeld: Counselors are finishing up the letters of recommendation for those students who are trickling in requests. They are watching grades- especially seniors to keep them on track for graduation.

She has also set up a “college prep” and “career center” section that can be scrolled over under the “counseling” tab.

The library therapeutic books for adolescence, written in the form of novels. It gives kids an 0pportunity to identify themselves with a character, which can be powerful.

They’re working on progress reports. It’s mostly done by computer, the teachers fill it out, but counselors will look over the report, see who needs to come in.

They’re encouraging students to keep up their grades, they’ll be holding conferences with the students.

They’re also starting a Frosh/Soph peer tutoring program.

College wise, they’re finishing up some private college letters of recommendation. They’ll be meeting with students in late December ish January depending on when Collegeboard decides to send in the results. Counselors will meet with students and discuss the results.

She also mentioned that counselors will be meeting with students in danger of failing about their quarter grades.

Now that Adult School sign ups are done, they can focus on student issues, like grades, college, letters of recommendation, especially for private schools.
